Call for Applications: AthletesCAN seeks new committee members

We are recruiting for these committees: AthletesCAN Forum, Awareness, Canadian Sport Awards, Leadership, Pregnancy and Parental Rights Deadline: June 4, 2023

AthletesCAN, the association of Canada’s national team athletes, is launching a Call for Applications as it seeks new members to join the organization’s various committees.

National team athletes and/or external professionals with relevant expertise, an interest in becoming more involved and a passion for amplifying the athlete voice are encouraged to apply.

Committees with available positions are outlined below. Applications should be submitted by June 4, 2023

Awareness Committee

A standing committee of AthletesCAN, the Awareness Committee will manage the organization’s brand with a focus on internal and external communications, and the development of marketing assets to be used in the generation of revenue. It will also manage the organization’s membership and alumni engagement strategies, and will compose and deliver an annual membership report as well as membership updates to be presented at each board meeting. The committee will advise the AthletesCAN Board of Directors in these areas based on an annual Marketing & Communications Plan, associated engagement strategies, property valuations and the annual awareness report. The committee is also a working committee, and members are expected to carry out the tasks and projects of the organization outlined in these terms.

Canadian Sport Awards Committee

The Canadian Sport Awards Committee is an operational committee struck annually. Its role is to plan, organize and implement the annual Canadian Sport Awards, providing input and making recommendations and/or decisions about the location, program, presenters and social events.

Forum Committee

The Forum Committee is an ad hoc committee struck annually.  Its role is to develop the annual AthletesCAN Forum Program, providing input and making recommendations and/or decisions about the conference sessions, speakers and social events. 

Leadership Development Committee

The Leadership Development Committee is a standing committee of AthletesCAN. Its role is to assist the organization in fulfilling its mandate in relation to the identification, development, delivery and management of leadership resources and activities.

Pregnancy & Parental Rights Committee

A standing committee of AthletesCAN, the Pregnancy and Parental Rights Committee, will seek to provide resources and advocate for the rights and well-being of athletes who are considering or actively seeking pregnancy, adoption, fostering, or surrogacy for themselves or their partner. The committee will work collaboratively with other standing committees to ensure that AthletesCAN’s policies and practices are aligned with the needs and concerns of athlete parents. The committee is also a working committee, and members are expected to carry out  tasks and projects of the organization outlined in these terms.
