TORONTO / WELLAND, Ont. – AthletesCAN, the association of Canada’s national team athletes, is proud to unveil Black Sheep Coffee Roasters as the Official Speciality Coffee of AthletesCAN.
Founded in 2015 and based in Niagara, Ont., Black Sheep specializes in delicious, sustainably and ethically-sourced coffee, priding themselves on their commitments to quality, community, and coffee education.
Black Sheep will provide all AthletesCAN members for two years with a 10 per cent discount on their packaged coffee and flat-rate shipping of $10 per order in Ontario and $15 per order anywhere else nationwide. Members will be able to access the discount via promo code provided by AthletesCAN.
“Having the opportunity to work with AthletesCAN and support our national team athletes is amazing. As an organization that has normally supported the arts, having the opportunity to branch out and support our Team Canada athletes in the same way is an exciting step in continuing and expanding our community-based mission.”
AthletesCAN and Black Sheep will also collaborate to produce a signature AthletesCAN Roast available for sale in the coming months. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the custom roast will support AthletesCAN in its athlete education, representation, and empowerment initiatives.
“We are excited to welcome Black Sheep to our growing network of partners. Lucas and his team have been incredibly supportive of our mission of athlete empowerment and advocating for the voices of National Team Athletes. Providing this new benefit to our membership is just one way that we are continuing to grow our support network.”
Black Sheep joins a growing roster of AthletesCAN partners with access to an exclusive network of over 6,000 current and recently-retired Canadian senior national team athletes, including Sport Canada (federal funding), Sport Solution / Western Law (athlete pro bono legal support), Respect Group (Respect in Sport training), Dale Carnegie (leadership training), Purolator (shipping), Enterprise (car rentals), and Etherington Generations / Benefits By Design (health and dental coverage).
About Black Sheep Coffee Roasters
Specialty tastes better and values the coffee farmer as highly as every other part of the chain. We made a conscious decision to better ourselves and our craft year over year. We strive to source coffees from farmers we have met (in-person or virtually) and establish relationships to last a lifetime. These relationships not only make our experiences more pleasant, they also establish trust and help both parties to raise the bar every season. Every year we host dozens of fundraisers for local charities, sponsor scholarships in local high schools, support sports teams, and travel to origin to source great coffee and see how we can help them improve their operations.
