New website, AthletesCAN.ca launches to mark organization’s 30th anniversary

TORONTO – Coming off a historic 26-medal performance by its Olympic members at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, AthletesCAN, the association of Canada’s national team athletes, is proud to unveil its new website, AthletesCAN.ca, in celebration of the organization’s 30th anniversary.

Beginning today, AthletesCAN.ca becomes our new online digital home, marking a shift to a Canadian-based domain for the first time in our history. The new website was designed to create a more user-friendly experience, with separate portals for both members and the public, showcasing all of AthletesCAN’s familiar resources, while also maintaining athlete-exclusive materials.

“We are thrilled to finally reveal our new website. Our national team athletes from coast-to-coast proudly represent Canada and moving to AthletesCAN.ca strengthens our alignment on their behalf with our partners within the Canadian sport system. As part of our new Strategic Plan, we look forward to raising our national awareness significantly in the coming years, while continuing to build a safe and welcoming sport environment across the country.”

Erin Willson, AthletesCAN President

As part of today’s launch, AthletesCAN is also unveiling a commemorative 30th anniversary logo. The new mark highlights three decades of service representing over 6,000 members competing at or recently retired from their careers at Sport Canada-funded senior World Championships, the Commonwealth Games, Pan and Parapan American Games, as well as the Olympics and Paralympics – which are set to open in Beijing this week.

The new website, anniversary logo, and accompanying suite of promotional assets were designed by inMotion, an award-winning digital and video marketing agency based in Ottawa with experience serving fellow sport partners including the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC), Bowls Canada, Curling Canada and Taekwondo Canada. Preserving tradition, the logo maintains the time-honoured AthletesCAN mark – a triumphant athlete silhouetted within a Maple Leaf situated above our name, celebrating both our Canadian pride, and the collective empowerment that with the right support, our athletes can achieve their dreams

On top of these assets, AthletesCAN also revealed a campaign hype video, kicking off its commitment to digital athlete-centred storytelling initiatives, that will prioritize how the organization has played a significant role and benefit in the sport journey of its members.

Further details surrounding these initiatives will be announced in the coming weeks.

“AthletesCAN.ca gives us the perfect platform to tell the stories of our members like never before,” said Alan Hudes, Manager of Communications and Sport Partnerships at AthletesCAN. “This is an exciting opportunity to create dynamic, engaging content that will unite and amplify the voices of Canadian athletes on our various channels, and showcase our leaders looking to inspire change.”
